Reception: Friday, September 7, 2007 6-8 pm

For over twenty-five years Las Manitas has been a part of the community in Austin. It had humble beginnings when sisters Cynthia and Lidia Perez started selling tacos on The Drag by the University of Texas. After finding a building with cheap rent downtown, Las Manitas opened in 1981. It eventually grew and became one of the more popular restaurants in town. Politicians and business people have made deals over breakfast and lunch. It has been a hot spot for tourists during South by Southwest and the rest of the year. Many celebrities, musicians, and dignitaries have made stops at the restaurant part of their routines. Families get together every weekend to enjoy meals and spend time with each other.
