The Visionary Voices Salon

From Noon to 6 pm, the forces behind the Visionary Voices Salon, will bring the bay area an opportunity to meet, discuss and be entertained by three of the most exciting Critical Futurists in the world today:
Daniel Pinchbeck, the author of the book that shook up the Entheogenic community, and exposed the American Middle Class to the reawakening of the counter culture- Breaking Open the Head ( http://breakingopenthehead.com/about_the_book.htm )Will open at Noon discussing his new book: 2012 : The Return of Quetzalcoatl. The book has already created a storm of controversy (see: amazon.com http://tinyurl.com/f5pho for reviews), as the larger experiential community is brought face to face with our secret desires and insights. It promises to be an entertaining look at apocalyptic prestition and what we can do about it.

@ 2 pm: Erik Davis ( http://techgnosis.com/ ) is one of the foremost cultural theorists of our era- He will be presenting on his latest book Visionary State: A Journey Through California's Spiritual Landscape. The author of the rEvolutionary TechGnosis : Myth, Magic & Mysticism in the Age of Information and the sublime- Led Zeppelin (33 1/3). A frequent contributor to Wired and other cutting edge journals, he will speak about the spiritual communities in the most altered state California, and the prestition which infects them all.
@ 3 pm: More Discussion, Music and Dance from dj elfmachine
@ 4 pm: Mark Pesce, making one of his rare returns to the Bay Area! The author of The Playful World, ( http://playfulworld.com/ ) and numerous essays and multimedia presentations on the impact of technology on our future- The developer of VRML, and a PoMo Iconoclast, will be presenting on whatever aspect of prestition captures his polymathic perception.
@ 5 pm to close, we will have discussion, networking, flirting, fascination and fabulous findesiecle formulations, hosted by Linda Rosa Corazon and Dr. Concrescence, the founders and co-hosts of the Visionary Voices Salon. VVS was created as a regular salon which would create a meeting place for the Bay Area's progressive and experiential community so we could meet and network, around a theme for the evening, with presenters from the shamanic, techgnostic, scientific and art edges-with room for discussion and networking.
