Virtuoso Players of Chinese Folk Music April 14, 2012

The virtuoso players of Chinese Folk Music is established with master performers from the Department of Fine Arts of China Ocean University in Qingdao, China. This is an extremely talented and versatile group of young Chinese teacher performers. Highly acclaimed, this group performs not only the traditional Chinese music, but also modern and contemporary Chinese folk music. Professor Kang Jiandong, artistic director of the group and supervisor of the doctoral program, will lead the 6 virtuoso players touring the US in April, 2012. The young group continues to develop and explore the innovative programming to retain the traditional Chinese string and wind music and to absorb the essence of Western classical music. The virtuoso players took a month long trip toured France in 2008 and participated in the French "Renaissance Night Festival” which was received with great enthusiasm and high remarks. Since 2010, the group launched "Virtuoso Concert Series" and "Campus Concert Series of Western and Chinese Classical music". The virtuoso players’ 2010 tour to South Korea was praised as “The true virtuosi”.
