Madrid trained dancer/choreographer Virginia Iglesias returns to the Red Poppy with a special night of flamenco music and dance, premiering new works with collaborator, composer and musical director Jorge Liceaga. Special guest artist Jordan-born percussionist/singer Rami Ziadeh, fuses Middle Eastern/Indian music with flamenco creating a unique sound. Joining voices with flamenco singer Azriel, “El Moreno” this vocal duet evokes sounds reminiscent of ancient Spain and Moorish coexistence. Recently returning from Spain, Ms. Iglesias will premiere 2 new choreographies this night. Receiving recognition for high artistic standards, creativity and innovation, her choreographies have been commissioned by several artistic organizations including the San Francisco Opera's Merola Program, San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, Chinese Performing Artists of America and Tahoe Tallac Association's Summer Arts and Music Festival. In 2004, her concert production MOSAICO was featured on the popular television program LATIN EYES. Ms. Iglesias has appeared extensively as a soloist and toured with the Madrid based company Noche Flamenca and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
