Known as "the king of ranchera music" of in his native Mexico, Vicente Fernandez is considered one of the legends of Mexican music. He received his start when he won a singing contest in Guadalajara. He and his ranchera music have become most popular in Latin America and in Spain. His album 'Necesito de Ti' earned him his first Grammy for Best Regional Mexican Album.
