A conversation with book designer Alan Brownoff.

Alan Brownoff is an artist and book designer currently working at the University of Alberta Press in Edmonton. He has come to Vancouver to join Jan Elsted and Glenn Goluska in judging the 25th national juried Alcuin Society Canadian Book Design Competition. A former teacher of art, design, and book design at the University of Alberta, his design work has won numerous awards in both Canada and the US, including 14 “Alcuins”. Among the projects he has recently completed is the newly-published book Reading Writers Reading.

In his informal illustrated talk, he will discuss art and book design, and the relationship of each on the other in his work.
