This event celebrates the reopening of Habitat Hall and honors the team that completed the restoration. he habitat diorama hall was closed in 1996 due to unsafe conditions and deterioration of the exhibits. In 2003, the Vanderbilt Museum received the prestigious Save America's Treasures Grant to restore the habitat hall, which includes a thirty-two foot whale shark and nine natural history dioramas with backgrounds painted by American landscape artist Henry Hobart Nichols. The sharks are restored, the sea lions and lizards are back, and the moon once again shines over the Galapagos Islands. The event includes dinner, open bar, dessert, musica nd dancing.
