Join Johanne Lamoureux and Gallery senior curator Ian Thom, for a conversation about the many "roles" Emily Carr plays in Canadian art history, and the implications of situation her work within social frameworks such as modernist, 'western' artist, or woman artist.

Johanne Lamoureux is Professor and Director of the Development of Art History and Film Studies at the Université de Montréal. She has curated numerous projects, and in 2001, she published L’art insituable, an anthology of writings on site specificity.

Ian M. Thom, Senior Curator at the Vancouver Art Gallery, is responsible for the major collection of Carr’s work held there. He is an author of numerous books and catalogues on the art of British Columbia.

Ian Thom and Johanne Lamoureux, along with Charles Hill are co-curators of Emily Carr: New Perspectives on a Canadian Icon.
