BOSTON — Discover the fantastic colors and distinctive brushwork of Van Gogh’s paintings like never before at the Boston premiere of Van Gogh: Brush with Genius. Shot with the giant screen IMAX movie technology, this film about the life and paintings of Van Gogh immerses viewers in the breathtaking landscapes and extraordinary colors of the artist’s most famous works. The film leads viewers on a journey through the surprisingly short nine year period of the artist’s career during which he painted more than 900 paintings. Told from the perspectives of three main characters -- a museum researcher, a film director, and Vincent van Gogh himself -- Van Gogh follows the artist as he travels from the Netherlands to Auvers-sur-Oise, and passes through Arles and Saint-Rémy on route to Paris. From the dazzling yellow of the artist’s famous cornfields to the deep blue of his enveloping night skies, audiences will find themselves enveloped in some of the most important works in art history. Van Gogh will be shown everyday at 7 p.m., from Wednesday, April 1 through Tuesday, June 30. Admission is $12.95 for adults and $10.95 for seniors and children, ages three to 11-years-old. The Simons IMAX Theatre is located at the New England Aquarium, Central Wharf, Boston. For additional show times, ticket prices or information, call (617) 973-5200 or visit, www.neaq.org.
