A Christian minister will discuss The Da Vinci Code and lost Christianities on Thursday, May 25, at 10 a.m. in the Matthews Auditorium, Room 137, Kaneff Centre, UTM, 3359 Mississauga Rd. N.

Rev. Neil Young, a minister at Erindale United Church in Mississauga, has an interest in ancient writings, biblical archeology, religious conspiracy theories and the history of Christianity. In this lecture, he will explore some of the questions The Da Vinci Code has evoked about Christianity. There are, in fact, 'lost' books of the Bible, records of female leaders within the earliest Christian church, ancient accounts of JesusĀf marriage and many legends, conspiracy theories and artistic works that offer perspectives, and yet are almost forgotten today.

The lecture is part of the Canadian Perspectives Lecture Series, organized by the Associates of Erindale College through the Office of Advancement at UTM. Now in its 20th year, the lecture series aims to inform and educate the public, offer a historical perspective on current issues and introduce new ideas and technologies that shape everyday life. Proceeds support student scholarships.
