707 W. Hornet Ave., Pier 3
Alameda, California 94501

With three dance floors on the enclosed, heated hangar deck, the USS Hornet is one of the best places in the Bay Area to swing dance. Period attire is welcome. The Singing Blue Stars of the USS Hornet perform a tribute to the Andrews Sisters, 7:00-7:30pm. Free dance lessons by the San Francisco Jitterbugs, 7:30-8:00pm. Cash bars and food concessions will be available. Plenty of free parking.
In Big Band history, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is recognized as one of the best all-around dance bands. It could swing with the best of them and no other band could come close to Tommy's when it came to playing ballads. Frank Sinatra's career blossomed with Tommy Dorsey, and, with Sinatra's vocals, the band became more successful than ever.
The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra continues to travel throughout the country and will be led by Daryl "Flea" Campbell. Long considered one of the most reliable, talented and consistent trumpet players in the music business, "Flea" is one of the few remaining "original" members of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. His credits include lead trumpet with the greats of the big band era -- Tommy Dorsey (who gave him his well-known nickname), Jimmy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Les Brown and his Band of Renown, and Buddy Morrow.

Tickets range from $45 for general admission to $95 for special reserved seating.
