Intellectual property (IP) development and exploitation are very significant for many businesses. This requires attention to IP legal protection and dispute resolution, but also to IP taxation in both the U.S. and abroad. This seminar applies basic business tax rules to selected arrangements involving IP such as development, sales, use of holding companies and R & D partnerships, international cost sharing and other cross border planning, and financing techniques such as securitization. The aim is to impart solutions for developing and exploiting IP in light of U.S. and other tax rules.
