"In the spring of 2005, five indie crafters banded together to organize the largest alternative, urban craft fair the Northwest had ever seen. Urban Craft Uprising was born. The group dedicated itself to creating a unique showcase for rising indie craft stars and to providing people with the chance to shop for one-of-a-kind, avant-garde creations.
Urban Craft Uprising’s revolutionary craft fair, held in November of 2005, brought in over 50 vendors from all over the Northwest and over 4,000 fans excited to see fun, fresh, and funky urban crafts. UCU’s phenomenal success captured the eye of local and national organizations.

I Heart Rummage, Seattle’s monthly showcase of urban crafts and functional art, asked Urban Craft Uprising to take over IHR starting in January of 2006. Bumbershoot, inspired by UCU’s leadership in the alternative craft world, asked UCU to spearhead their “Indie Market” in the legendary arts festival.

Urban Craft Uprising continues to look for ways to expand opportunities for hip designers while promoting the DIY, indie craft movement. They plan to build upon their success with a December 2006 craft fair which will feature over 100 vendors from all over the country. "
