Unresolved Circumstances: Perspectives on Current Video Art From Latin America July 13, 2011

The videos presented in Unresolved Circumstances explore past and present recurring issues in Latin America that continuously shape a contradictory reality. This involves a simultaneous ongoing attempt to build some sense of the future. Presented in three thematic axes--History, Location, and Politics--the works deal with several global and local socio-political issues. The exhibition begins by presenting an open dialogue with videos that relate to Latin American history addressing themes such as colonialism and its effects, as well as the contradictions of a dysfunctional modernity and its consequences.
