Following on from last years successful Modding Workshop, this will again take place at 01-zeroone in Soho, this time giving people the opportunity to pick up and use Unreal Engine 3.

The content is applicable to a wide audience, ranging from school teachers and university lecturers to students and hobbyists who want to pick up basic game development skills, as well as study and pass them on to others.

Participants will learn the skills needed to produce a complete level in one day, by each producing a small environment from scratch using the Unreal Editor. These skills will include level geometry, mesh decorations, texturing, lighting techniques, and using actors to manipulate game AI.

The days programme will alternate between short lectures demonstrating technique, and development time coupled with one-on-one tuition and discussion.

The Modding Workshop is part of Skillsweek (www.skillsweek.com). Skillsweek is part of the London Games Fringe, a festival of alternative gaming events at the end of October 2008, organised by artists, academics, gamers, game developers, educators and creative professionals from a wide range of different media: www.londongamesfringe.com
