The artist collaborative Type A (Adam Ames and Andrew Bordwin) has consistently made work that deals with boundaries, both real and imagined. This exhibition brings together two radically different but related projects: 'Barrier,' a modular concrete sculpture inspired by "Jersey Barriers," the concrete highway dividers that have been repurposed as security barricades in the post-9/11 world; and 'Trigger,' a collaborative photography project involving local police and Law Enforcement Targets, a Minnesota-based company that manufactures photographically-based firearm targets used for training both law enforcement and the U.S. military. Both projects reflect on the artist's concern about the pervasive sense of fear and apprehension that exists in society, and how this fear is manifested through both personal and governmental behaviors.
