Twestival Phoenix Local September 11, 2009

On Friday, September 11th, Phoenix will participate in Twestival Local with 230+ cities around the world in a global tweetup for charity. Our last event raised over $250,000 for charity: water, enabling them to drill 55 wells serving 17,000 people in Uganda, Ethiopia and India.

Twestival enables people from Twitter to connect offline, network and catch up socially while supporting a good cause.

Twestival is organized 100% by volunteers and 100% of the money raised goes directly to charity. This event, Twestival Local, supports charities that each city selects and approves through the Twestival global team. Twestial Phoenix Local will support St. Mary's Food Bank. St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, the world’s first food bank, is a non-sectarian, nonprofit organization that alleviates hunger by efficiently gathering and distributing food to sites that serve the hungry.

Our aim is to bring all the various groups of #phx tweeps together in concert with this global tweetup to raise money for a good cause and to build community.
