This four-part course will take a broad, top-to-bottom look at a country in crisis. North Korea’s political and social system, economy, and foreign policy — including the nuclear crisis with the United States and its unstable relationship with South Korea — will be our main subjects. Getting past stereotypes and one-sided views of the DPRK, we will look at North Korea not only as seen by others but also as its leaders see the world. The seminar will be led by PSU's Dr. Mel Gurtov and held at the Mercy Corps Action Center, 28 SW 1st Avenue in Portland on Tuesday evenings, 7 – 9:30 pm, January 11, 18, 25 and February 1, 2011.

Seminar cost is $100 for four classes. Register online at Brown Paper Tickets. Registration is also available by phone 503-896-5747, or in-person at the Action Center during regular operating hours: Tuesday - Thursday, 11 am - 5 pm, Friday - 11 am - 2 pm, Saturday - 11 am - 4 pm.
