WORLD FAMOUS THEATRE CELEBRATES
30TH ANNIVERSARY OF GAMECHANGING FILM
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- On October 27, 2012, the world-famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre will host a 30th anniversary celebration for Tron, one of the most significant films in motion picture history.
- Tron, released by Walt Disney Pictures in 1982, featured groundbreaking use of Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) to create characters and environments, and forever changed the way computers are used to produce entertainment.
- Directed by Steven Lisberger and produced by Donald Kushner, from a story by Lisberger and Bonnie MacBird, Tron inspired a generation of artists, designers and musicians, many of whom will be there that night to honor a film that changed their lives.
- The anniversary will also be a reunion of sorts, as the film’s cast, filmmakers and studio executives who were instrumental in its production are expected to attend.
- The event will begin at 7 PM with a Filmmakers’ Panel, followed by a screening of the film in the Chinese Theatre.
- From 10:30 PM to 2 AM, guests will party in a Tron-themed cyber-world inside the new Chinese Theatre ballroom.
- Musical acts include Nosaj Thing, Alluxe, and Mobius8—all of whom cite Tron’s soundtrack by Wendy Carlos as a major influence on their work.
- The lobby of the Chinese Theatre will feature a display of Tron memorabilia and artifacts from the film.
- Guests are invited to dress in ‘Tronesque Attire.’
- Tickets are on sale now and start at $50 for regular admission and at $100 for VIP access to the Filmmakers and Party. This event is 21 and over only. Tickets are subject to increase.
