201 E. Randolph Street
Chicago, Illinois

Chicago’s Polish community unites to commemorate the tragic loss of the President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczynski, First Lady Maria Kaczynska, the official delegation and all those on board the devastating flight to Smolensk.

The impressive, poignant program features renowned Polish artists including Ryszard Rynkowski, Pectus, Pudelsi, Iza Trojanowska and Funky Polak. In addition, performances by the Three Polish Tenors, Soloists from the Baltic Opera and ‘Teatr Wielki’ will showcase classical pieces that include arrangements of famous Polish composers, Frederic Chopin and Ignacy Paderewski. The music is finely choreographed to an awe-inspiring multimedia jumbo-screen presentation combining a collage of archival photos and video footage of President Lech Kaczynski, including his numerous visits to Chicago.

Chicago Sister Cities, Alliance of Polish Clubs, and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago are sponsoring the historic event, which will also be televised in Poland. This year marks the 50th anniversary since Warsaw, Poland became Chicago’s first Sister City in 1960. Since that time, President Kaczynski and Mayor Richard M. Daley developed a close relationship based on city-to-city cooperation and exchange in the areas of culture, education, and business."
