Trevor Paglen: From Above, From Below
In conversation with Lize Mogel, series curator

Satellite imagery has changed the way we understand our world. Artist and geographer Trevor Paglen reverses the photographic gaze back onto the satellites orbiting above us. Join Paglen and Mogel as they explore the visual and political implications of such views from above as well as below.

Trevor Paglen is an artist and geographer whose work deliberately blurs the lines between social science, contemporary art, and a host of even more obscure disciplines in order to construct unfamiliar, yet meticulously researched ways to interpret the world around us. His work has been exhibited at many venues, including University of California Berkeley Art Museum; Transmediale.08 Festival, Berlin; the AndyWarhol Museum, Pittsburgh; Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, North Adams, among other venues. Among his publiciations are I Could Tell You But Then You Would Have to Be Destroyed By Me: Emblems from the Pentagon's Black World Torture Taxi: On the Trail of the CIA's Renditon Flights and the forthcoming Blank Spots on a Map . Paglen lives and works in Berkeley.
