Tremoloco Roots Music Night January 8, 2011

Los Angeles and California mean many things to many people.
Chuck Berry’s Promised Land, Bukowski’s L.A. from a forgotten era,
East L.A., Hollywood, South Central, Deserts, Beaches, Mountains, Oil Fields and Orchards.
What does music sound like from a place like this?
To it’s warm embrace and fertile ground were drawn dust bowl refugees, migrant farmers,
cowboys, and blue bloods alike, bringing with them the rhythms and soul of home.
What grew was Spanish California music, Bakersfield Country, Surf Music, West Coast Jazz,
the East L.A. sound, Psychedelia, Western Swing, Mexican Border Radio, Country/Rock etc…….
No easy way to describe such a rich musical heritage.

And so it is with Tremoloco who have been described as an eclectic roots band from L.A.,
purveyors of Gulf Coast Folklorico or Mexican Americana and all are as good a tag as any.
Their songs tell stories firmly rooted in their beloved L.A. but definitely go beyond to places like Mexicali, Louisiana, Georgia, the Southwest, Laredo and the Yucatan and of course East L.A.
They effortlessly cross pollinate several genres and styles such as Mexican Folk, Tex-Mex, Country, Norteno, Cumbias, Honky Tonk, Cajun, Zydeco, Blues and Roadhouse Rock n Roll. They have won fans all over playing shows throughout Texas, the Gulf Coast, the Southwest, the Northwest and with the release of a new CD in 2011 they plan on doing a lot more of the same.

The live shows have also been well received where they’ve wowed fans at places like The Topanga Banjo and Fiddle Contest and Folk Festival, The Sisters Folk Festival in Oregon, The Claremont Folk Music Center, The Full Moon Folk Club-Edmonton and Ironwood Stage in Alberta Canada and venues from Mississippi to New Orleans to Washington state where they’re loved by old and young alike. They’ve participated in music workshops for kids and adults, hosted house concerts and roots music TV shows, have done numerous in-store and in-studio radio appearances and have airplay on more than 75 Americana stations and made several Americana/roots charts and best of lists.
