Banish your wintertime blahs with a visit to the Williamsburg Library for an introductory workshop on botanical drawing. The workshop is presented in conjunction with our exhibit, "Treasures From the Garden" featuring more than 40 watercolors and colored-pencil drawings by nine artists.

The workshop will introduce students to the art of botanical drawing. Call (757) 259-4070 to register and bring a pencil, eraser and a leaf or blossom from which to draw.

Juliet Kirby was born in England and started her art education in London. She immigrated to the USA and completed her art training, graduating from the New York Botanical Gardens Illustration Program. Over the years she has had successful one person shows in Connecticut, New York, North Carolina and Virginia, and in 1996 returned to England to exhibit with the Royal Horticultural Society, where she was awarded a silver medal. Juliet has participated in many juried group shows including exhibitions at the New York, Brooklyn, Missouri and Denver Botanical Gardens and at the New York State Museum in Albany, NY. She currently resides in Williamsburg, Virginia where she continues to paint and teach watercolor workshops in her favorite subject for This Century Art Gallery and most recently at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. She has taught most of the students in this current exhibition for the past few years.
