Toy Drive December 10, 2008

‘Tis the season for giving and the Del Mar Fairgrounds is teaming up with Toys for Tots in an effort to spread the joy and provide gifts to needy children in the community. The public is asked to drop off toys and enjoy the Holiday of Lights festival at a discounted rate. Every vehicle donating a new unwrapped toy will receive a $2 discount on admission. Two military servicemen from the U.S. Marine Corps will be present to accept the toys as you enter. Once the good deed of the day is fulfilled, family and friends may take a 1.5 mile drive through the more than 400 lighted, animated scenes designed to get patrons in the holiday spirit. Each of the many displays is organized into themes, which include: Candy Cane Lane, Toyland, San Diego County Fair, Treasures by the Lake, Del Mar Racetrack, the Twelve Days of Christmas and Elves at Play. Patrons drive their vehicles along the world-famous Del Mar Racetrack to view the festive displays from the comfort of their cars. Make it a holiday tradition - ideal for families with young children and for adults young at heart.
