A discussion of Toronto¹s current planning process &
what needs to change to make it better

Urban studies and community development professors and researchers from the
University of Toronto, York University and Ryerson University will
participate.

This workshop is designed in part to assist researchers from the three area
universities define research topics and future workshops that will help
inform the discussion of improving the City¹s planning institutions.

A public forum sponsored by the Centre for Urban and Community Studies, the
Urban Studies Program, and the Faculty of Architecture Landscape and Design,
University of Toronto

Paul Bedford
Urban Mentor and former Toronto Chief Planner (1996-2004), Adjunct Professor
UofT and Ryerson, Greater Toronto Transportation Authority board, National
Capital Commission's Advisory Committee on Planning, and Toronto Waterfront
Design Review Panel

Stephen Diamond
President, DiamondCorp, a real estate development firm; former partner
McCarthy Tetrault; legal practice included appearances before municipal
councils, the courts and the Ontario Municipal Board; former board member of
the Ontario Urban Development Institute.

Ken Greenberg
Principal, Greenberg Consultants, Urban Designer, a focus on rejuvenating
downtowns, waterfronts and neighbourhoods; former Director of Architecture
and Urban Design in Toronto for ten years and Interim Chief Planner in
Boston.

David Hulchanski
Director, Centre for Urban & Community Studies, and professor of housing and
community development, Faculty of Social Work, UofT; principal in the 5-year
ŒNeighbourhood Change and Building Inclusive Communities from Within¹
research initiative.

CHAIR: Frank Cunningham
Professor of philosophy and research associate, Centre for Urban & Community
Studies, and former Principal of Innis College, home of the UofT Urban
Studies Program.
