In the past 15 years Central & Eastern European countries have experienced dynamic growth and one of the main reasons for that was unprecedented leap of small entrepreneurship, mostly in trade but also services sector. CEE citizens freed from communist regime revitalized their economies with from-zero-to-hero careers which led to creation of unprecedented wealth, launch of capital markets, uprise of private equity and venture capital industries. That in turn led to creation of technology and entrepreneurial infrastructure. This once neglected region sprung to life.

EU accession significantly lowered risk profiles which led to inflow of foreign capital. Improving telecoms infractucture, increasing disposable incomes and consumer demand on one hand, but also growing familiarity with sophisticated financial services and demand for wealth management solutions among entreprenuers on the other hand, created a fertile ground for VC funds investing in the TMT sector – telco, media and new technologies.

LPs and fund managers looking for growing but not overcrowded markets, academic excellence and potentially high return rates are excited about being much more pro-active in the CEE region.
