On Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the Tigard Library will host Les and Eva Aigner, who will share their stories of surviving Auschwitz, Dachau and the Budapest Ghetto.

This program will be presented in observance of the 72nd anniversary of Kristallnacht, which occurred on November 9 and 10, 1938. Kristallnacht was the first mass assault by the Nazis on Jewish residents in Germany and Austria.

Nazi forces victimized thousands of German and Austrian Jewish citizens, sending many to concentration camps. Historians consider this event the first clear sign of the Holocaust that was to come. At the time other nations reacted in horror to the Kristallnacht atrocities.
