June 5 Father of the Bride (1950, unrated)
The tribulations of planning a wedding are humorously showcased in this entertaining movie from director Vincente Minnelli. Spencer Tracy plays the exasperated father whose daughters small, at-home affair grows into a budget-busting extravaganza. This film, which costars Elizabeth Taylor and Joan Bennett, was nominated for three Academy Awards.

June 12 Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994, Rated R for language and for some sexuality)
A coterie of close friends engagingly ruminate about life, love and marriage while attending a series of disastrous weddings. Hugh Grant heads a great ensemble cast that includes Andie MacDowell, Kristin Scott Thomas, John Hannah and James Fleet in this delightful and witty British romantic comedy.

June 19 Libeled Lady (1936, unrated)
A newspaper editor being sued for libel by a snooty socialite concocts a harebrained scheme to malign her reputation in this screwball comedy. The elaborate plot, which includes a fraudulent marriage, is implausible, but the outstanding cast (William Powell, Myrna Loy, Spencer Tracy and Jean Harlow) makes it work and create comic gold in the process.

June 26 The Old Maid (1939, unrated)
Bette Davis plays a demure Civil War era belle who has an out-of wedlock baby by her sprightly cousins cast-off lover. To hide the scandal, she allows the cousin (Miriam Hopkins) to raise the child as her own, which leads to decades of bitter recrimination between the two women. This fine Womans Picture, which includes wedding scenes, was adapted from a Pulitzer Prize-winning play based on a novel by Edith Wharton.
