December 6 The Man Who Came to Dinner (1942)
An acerbic theatre critic injures his hip and becomes the unwelcome holiday guest of a staid mid-western family in this witty comedy written by Kaufman and Hart. The all-star cast includes Monty Wooley, Bette Davis, Ann Sheridan, Jimmy Durante and Billie Burke.
December 13 The Lemon Drop Kid (1951)
Bob Hope plays a small-time hustler who concocts a Christmas con job to repay his debt to a gangster in this enjoyable comedy based on a story by Damon Runyon. The classic holiday song Silver Bells was introduced in this movie.
December 20 The Bishops Wife (1948)
Cary Grant plays an Angel sent to earth at Christmas to assist an overwrought Bishop and his lonely wife in this lovely warm-hearted film. Loretta Young, David Niven, Gladys Cooper and Monty Wolley.
December 27 Christmas in Connecticut (1945)
In her popular column, Elizabeth Lane (Barbara Stanwyck) portrays herself as a doting wife, mother and expert cook. However, none of that is true, which creates quite a problem when her editor insists that he and a rescued serviceman spend Christmas at her idyllic (non-existent) farm in Connecticut. This screwball comedy costars Dennis Morgan, Sidney Greenstreet and S. Z. Sakall.
