ROOT DIVISION PRESENTS: Second Saturday June 2012
Through That Which Is Seen
Curated by Alexis Arnold and Lauren Hartman
Second Saturday Reception: Saturday, June 9, 7-10 pm

Through That Which is Seen represents a range of interpretations of the diorama, on all scales from site-specific installations to small-scale models. From natural history displays to shoebox book reports, the word diorama often conjures memories from childhood. However, dioramas can be found dotted throughout our daily lives. Think about storefront displays, televisions, and medicine cabinets, to name a few. Does a shower become a performative diorama when in use? Or a car? The work in this exhibition highlights the narrative potential of the diorama and the many forms in which they embody.
