The event features:
- The Community Hero Award ceremony to honor the California Youth Connection & United States Senator Barbara Boxer
- Current First Place program participants and recent graduates
- Rosy Chu of KTVU Channel 2 is the evening's Master of Ceremonies
- Wine tastings sponsored by Periscope Cellars of Emeryville and Aubin Cellars of Oakland
- Coveted silent auction treasures and unique live auction bargains
- An elegant three course meal prepared by master chefs of the Westin St. Francis
- Dancing to the Bay Area's own party band Night Fever

The 2009 Community Hero Award recipients are US Senator Barbara Boxer and Janet Knipe, executive director of California Youth Connection. Their contributions support better opportunities for current and former foster youth.

In California, when foster children turn 18, all state funded services are terminated. With no income or family, former foster youth are three times more likely to become homeless and six times more likely to go to jail than their peers. Ms. Knipe and Senator Boxer have influenced legislation to give youth a strong foundation for life after foster care.

Youth Ambassadors are former foster youth that are current participants or recent graduates of First Place programs. Youth Ambassadors will attend "There's No Place Like Home" to share how First Place for Youth has made a difference in their lives.

An Alumni Speaker will address attendees with a personal story of triumph over adversity transitioning from foster care to adulthood with the support of First Place for Youth.

$150.
