They've wowed music fans with their ode to Joy Division, have produced what are sure to be some of this summers most poptastic dance floor hits with their debut album and now The Wombats are bringing the fun and getting face to face with their namesake. Meeting in 2003, The WOMBATS were born when Liverpool natives Matthew Murph Murphy (vocals, guitar, keyboard) and Dan Haggis (drums, vocals) joined forces with Viking Tord verland Knudsen (bass, vocals) at Paul McCartneys Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. Produced by the band with Stephen Harris (Kaiser Chiefs, Ben Kweller) and mixed by Rich Costey (Muse, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand), Lets Dance To Joy Division was the first taste of The Wombats debut album The Wombats proudly presentA Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation. Their astoundingly accomplished debut; a collection of thirteen irresistibly catchy songs, with a scattering of infectious scouse wit, has shot this band into an international touring whirlwind. Dealing in despair of the most danceable kind, the immediacy and high-octane fun of their shows will make this Australian tour one of the standouts of 2008. As NME says, deny them at your detriment!
