Formed in the spring of 2009, The Whiskey Gentry is a band of Atlanta misfits that defy categorization in Atlanta's saturated music market. From bluegrass to punk to gospel to outlaw country to old-time rock and roll, The Whiskey Gentry combine accomplished musicianship with high-energy stage shows that are sure to provide many a night of pickin' and dancin' for the southeast music scene. A motley crew, no doubt, but one full of experienced and hungry musicians from all walks of life with a few very important things in common: the desire to play good music, have fun, and entertain folks.

Having recently been chosen Atlanta's Critic's Pick for Best Local Country Act, The Whiskey Gentry have established themselves among the Atlanta music elite. The band's sound is a glorious patchwork of six very different musicians from country, punk, rock and bluegrass influences. They weave these elements together with Lauren Staley's innocently stunning vocals, rendering an expressive compilation of folk tales. These songs can be found on the band's first self titled EP and the second EP appropriately title "Two."

"Navigation the cliches engrained in contemporary country music is no easy chore. Nobody recognizes that more than The Whiskey Gentry. The newly evolved project pushes the parameters of bucolic country song craft with elegance and grace. But the group doesn't trip over it's own musical inclinations. Rather, [they] refine them with Southern charm that pays respect to tradition while looking beyond to conjure pop sensibility," says Atlanta Music Guide.

Since it's inception, The Whiskey Gentry has shared the stage with acts such as Rhett Miller of the Old 97s, Slobberbone, Old Crow Medicine Show and Ricky Skaggs. Although they are newcomers to the music scene, critics and fans alike are looking forward to a promising future for this band.
