To celebrate the 25th anniversary of their classic album Fisherman's Blues, and the release of EMI's seven CD set Fisherman's Box, The Waterboys return to Liverpool Philharmonic with a special line-up reuniting Mike Scott and Steve Wickham with Fisherman's Blues band members Anto Thistlethwaite and Trevor Hutchinson for the first time since 1990.

The four are joined by current Waterboys drummer Ralph Salmins. The show is a re-exploration of the band's music of the Fisherman's Blues period. Rather than simply playing the original album in order the band will use their vintage repertoire as inspiration, Scott explains that the classic album is ‘a starting point for a new blast of the freewheeling, improvised spirit of The Waterboys in those days. I want that old fire burning again, Steve and Anto wailing like the two-man orchestra I remember, when anything could and did happen'. Expect souped-up, full power versions of lots of 1985-88 Waterboys numbers, plus hits, innovations and some surprises.
