On Sunday, September 13th, Manhattan’s hippest hootenanny, THE STEAM POWERED HOUR, kicks off a new season at a new venue—The Nuyorican Poets Café.

The host of the show, New Yorker cartoonist Matthew Diffee, welcomes PORK CHOP WILLIE, who brings the unique blues of the North Mississippi Hill Country. Their music has been described as “deeply emotional, often raucous, always hip-shakin’.” Sharing the stage is the very funny writer and comedian MATT GOLDICH, who’s performed at clubs and colleges all over the country, as well as at the prestigious US Comedy Arts Festival and on Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend.” And as if that weren’t enough music and comedy, we’ll also have more music and comedy from STUCKEY & MURRAY. Time Out New York refers to them as “a debonair musical comedy duo” while Time Out London prefers to call them “very hip, irreverent little cheeky monkies.” They’re probably both right. Their videos have had over twenty million hits on the Internet and have been shown on VH1, FUSE, E!, and MTV. Incidentally, Their feature film, “Skiptracers,” opens on Friday, September 11th, at the Village East Cinema and runs till the 17th. So go see that too, but not on Sunday, September 13th, or you’ll miss this fantastic season opening show!

All this, plus the celebrated illustrator Natalie Ascencios, working live on stage for your amusement and amazement.
