The Spirit of Christmas

P’zazz Children’s Choir and Dynamix Singers will present their 13th Annual Christmas Concert "The Spirit of Christmas" on Saturday, December 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the Broomfield Auditorium, 3 Community Park Road. Tickets are $15 adult and $10 students/ seniors/military. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Broomfield Auditorium Box Office on Thursday, Friday and Sunday afternoons or held in will call by calling 720-887-2371 (reservations only) and are available at the door at 6:30 p.m.

The two choirs will be joined by the smooth and exciting jazz band, After Midnight. The 5-piece band is directed by clarinetist Roger Campbell and Marsha Prokuski will accompany on piano. The program includes "Breath of Heaven,""Calypso Lullaby," jazzy versions of "God Rest You Merry Gentlemen" and "Up on the Housetop." Dynamix sings a beautiful a cappella jazz arrangement of "While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks" and P'zazz takes on a medley from Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. The program will close with Mervyn Warren's (original member of Take 6) funky and soulful arrangement of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus and the ballad "Grown-up Christmas List."

Award-winning choral director Jeannie Card taught in the Boulder Schools for 23 years and is the current director of P’zazz and Dynamix. P'zazz is an audition only choir for children of ages 9-12. Dynamix is a vocal ensemble for teens 13-18 years and the singers must also audition. Both choirs perform Broadway hits, vocal jazz and pop standards.
