SOMArts Cultural Center and The San Francisco Foundation present a focused look at the future of the Bay Area visual and media arts landscape, September 4–October 2, 2012. The Annual Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards Exhibition showcases the work of 23 promising visual artists from regional Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) programs working across disciplines and identifies young artists whose work connects directly to the pulse of emerging trends.

Opening on Friday, September 7, 6:30–9pm with a reception and awards ceremony, the exhibition surveys new work from the recipients of the competitive Jack and Gertrude Murphy and Edwin Anthony and Adelaine Bourdeaux Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards, funded by The San Francisco Foundation and administered by SOMArts.

Additional free public events include Bay Area Trajectories, artists & curators discuss historic trends in the arts, Wednesday, September 12, 7-9pm, and Makers, Mimosas & Matinees, an afternoon of artist-led creative workshops & film screenings, Wednesday, September 22, 12–3pm.
