Back in the early '70s, British actor Richard O'Brien created a musical spoof of all of those terrible Fifties Sci-Fi movies like 'Attack of the Triffids' and 'Forbidden Planet.' He called it the 'Rocky Horror Show' and it was a smash West End hit. 20th Century Fox decided to make a film out of it, which was so terrible it tanked immediately. Cinema owners started showing it later at night, and they noticed that some people kept coming back over and over to see it and sing along. Many even began to wear costumes, and interact with the characters on the screen. A cult hit was born. Thirty years later, there are !shadow' casts all over the nation and the world, who perform the film move for move as it plays. Shtick, bits, gags, call-out lines have become as ensconced as if it were a religious service.
