BOSTON — Local advocates for the state’s most vulnerable youth will be honored at Embracing the Legacy, the premier annual event of the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps that raises critical funds to support programs and services.

In the spirit of the late Senator’s belief in the ability of a single person to make a difference in the world, the Embracing the Legacy Award recognizes those who, through their actions, have raised awareness of and have courageously worked to eliminate injustice and inequity in society which affect children and families.

The Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps will recognize nationally acclaimed philanthropists who have made lifelong commitments to youth advocacy. They include Joan and Steve Belkin, philanthropists and owners of the Belkin Family Lookout Farm; Jim Brett, President and CEO of The New England Council, Chairman of the Governor’s Commission on Mental Retardation and former member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives; Wendy Kopp, CEO and founder of Teach America; and Gale Sayers, former NFL Hall of Famer and founder of the Gale Sayers Center.
The Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Actions Corps Annual Embracing the Legacy Awards Dinner celebrates the legacy of Robert F. Kennedy and the juvenile justice and child welfare work of the organization named in his honor. The agency, which is celebrating 41 years of service, is a leader in children’s welfare, juvenile justice, advocacy and treatment for children and families in Massachusetts.

The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22 at the JFK Presidential Library & Museum, Columbia Point, Boston. Tickets are $300. Various sponsorships are available.
