97 Atlantic Avenue (btwn Henry & Hicks)
Brooklyn, New York 11201

The Ponys, The Hong Kong, Detachment Kit, Fabulous Soul Shakers, the
Dansettes, and
Les Sans Cullottes are this year's accompaniment to a full day of free
fun at Magnetic Field.

On Sunday, September 25th, 2005, the 31st annual Atlantic Antic once
again lines Brooklyn's Atlantic Avenue with vendors and entertainers of
every stripe, all for the edification of a million visitors. The second
largest street fair in the city stretches for a mile and a half, but
all paths lead to MAGNETIC FIELD, located at 97 Atlantic Avenue, where
ace DJs and a fistful of the best bands going will take to the outdoor
stage all day long at their second annual ROCK'N'SOUL FEST!

The 2005 soundtrack to your day in the autumn sun will be:

THE PONYS (Chicago)
Direct from the Lollapalooza main-stage, and straddling several decades
of the best underground influences possible to absorb, The Ponys rail
away in an idiosyncratic mesh of garage strains, punk of the finest
vintage, prime post-whatever arrangements, and a sense of showmanship
like you haven't ever seen. This is a chance to catch the band for free
before they head out on the road for what are sure to be a slew off
sold-out shows with Sleater-Kinney.

THE HONG KONG (NYC)
A beautifully peculiar cross-pollination of '60s pop vocal charm and a
sooty, punk rhythm section, all ornamented by the distant and rarified
melodies of an expertly fingered synth.

THE FABULOUS SOUL SHAKERS (Harlem, U.S.A.)
A straight connection to an era now gone, the FSS are fully animated by
the same spirit that still makes the best doo wop/r&b/soul recordings
sound ageless, essential, and realer than real.

DETACHMENT KIT (Brooklyn)
Frantic and frenetic, epic and jagged, every note and beat are played
as if theyre trying to be pushed off the richter, veering at a full
tilt through banks of noise, wild shifts of dynamic, mists of the
melodic, and back again.

THE DANSETTES (NYC)
Three stunning singers in the close-harmony/soul-lilt tradition
perform with a crack back-up band who know the tropes and
nuances of the Stax/Atlantic/Tamla sound as well as they know
themselves.

LES SANS CULOTTES (NYC)
A throwback to la vie belle of the Parisian ye-ye days, Les Sans
Culottes offer girl/guy-driven vocals and a fuzzy, infectious undertow
of mildly lunatic guitar/organ action.

PLUS: More bands to-be-announced shortly.
