The Phantom of the Opera (1925) October 15, 2010

The Redford presents a screening of the 1925 silent classic 'The Phantom of the Opera,' featuring Lon Chaney and Mary Philbin and directed by Rupert Julian. Based on the novel by Gaston Leroux, the story traces the tragic love story of a beautiful opera singer and a young composer shamed by his physical appearance into a shadowy existence beneath the majestic Paris Opera House. This silent presentation, in black & white with Technicolor sequences, will feature live accompaniment by Tony O'Brien at the Redford's Barton Theatre Pipe Organ.
