FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HOW WELL DO YOU REALLY KNOW THE BIG APPLE?

THE QUEENS MUSEUM OF ART PRESENTS THE FIRST EVER
PANORAMA CHALLENGE! IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CITY RELIQUARY AND THE LEVYS’ UNIQUE NEW YORK!

Queens, NY (March 15, 2007) — The first ever event of its kind, The Panorama Challenge! will be held at the Queens Museum of Art on Saturday, April 7th from 6-8pm. The Panorama Challenge is an interactive trivia-based game night, during which participants will compete in teams to test their knowledge of New York City’s geography. Teams will be provided with clues ranging from easy to difficult regarding various NYC landmarks, bridges, neighborhoods, parks, bodies of water and other sites as Game Controllers highlight each location with far reaching laser pointers. Enjoy libations provided by Brooklyn Brewery; rah-rah along with The City Reliquettes – our very own brainy, brawny Community Cheerleaders; listen to the wise advice of Manhattan Borough Historian Michael Miscione, on our panel of Celebrity Judges as they settle disputes! While the April 7th Panorama Challenge will be a fundraiser for the City Reliquary, two beginner-level, family-friendly challenges will also be held at the museum on April 29th and May 27th from 4-5 pm.
The Panorama of the City of New York, originally commissioned by Robert Moses for the 1964 World’s Fair, is the largest architectural scale model in the world. With a scale of 1 inch: 100 feet, the Panorama has always offered a truly unique view of the five
boroughs, one that has left the millions who have seen it in awe. The Panorama made a triumphant return in February after undergoing a massive lighting and multimedia effects upgrade. Now featuring a twelve-minute tour of the model and the city it represents, the
recently-upgraded Panorama will continue to transform how viewers experience this one of a kind treasure, and the city it captures in wonderful miniature.
The Panorama Challenge! is the first major event to be held in the newly refurbished space. The funds raised will benefit The City Reliquary, a community museum located in Williamsburgh, Brooklyn. The museum collection displays thoughtfully arranged artifacts of New York City’s rich history. Some of the highlights include architectural remnants of notable NYC buildings, Statue of Liberty memorabilia, a geological display with representative samples of bedrock and soil, and a 1939 World’s Fair exhibit. The City Reliquary also celebrates local character by displaying the unique findings of New York-based collectors. The Panorama Challenge! is produced and created by The Levys’ Unique New York! – New York’s first family of tour guides, performers and event impresarios. The Panorama Challenge! is sure to educate and entertain New Yorkers from all walks of life, no matter in what borough they reside.
