Colour Me Pop presents…

Wednesday, February 11 @ Schubas, 9pm, 18+

Happy new year! 2009 is going to be great, isn't it? We are dead excited for the next gig we're promoting. When we decided to do this, the Pains were one of the bands we wanted to coax out to the windy city. We're so glad they'll be traveling westward!

THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART
We were alerted to the magnificent Pains at the end of 2007. They'd already done a single on Cloudberry and their split single on Atomic Beat came shortly afterwards. These slices of heaven showed that the band were incapable of making a poor or even average song. No wonder Slumberland and Fortuna POP! snatched them up to record more singles and – ooh! – a full length album.

The lucky UK got to see the band before we did but we skedaddled over to the NYC Popfest last June and finally witnessed their noisy brilliance in person. Now it's Chicago's turn. Come listen to these gorgeously fuzzy, feedback-drenched pop songs live and loud.

THE DEPRECIATION GUILD
The Depreciation Guild counts the Pains' chief drum banger, Kurt, among their ranks. The Guild mine similar dream pop elements, but stretch the sounds o u t into shimmering gaze territory. Their wall of sound will make you wonder how just two people can make such elegant, expansive noise.

VERY TRULY YOURS
Rising from the ashes of local group The Lorimer Sound, Very Truly Yours have been creating pop magic since the summer of 2008. We sometimes think of them as a modern sort of Heavenly. Sweet, quietly confident, and suitable for hand claps. You can't help but smile whilst listening to them. This band are one of Chicago's true pop gems. Be sure to arrive on time to see them!

We will also be playing the finest indie pop tunes before, during, and after the bands. Come out and dance and chat with us!
