Just in time for the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games, this exhibition compares the ancient and modern Olympiads through objects, art, science and technology and follows the sports that have endured since antiquity - footraces, wrestling, boxing, and the ancient pentathlon events of long jump, javelin, discus, sprints, and wrestling. Spanning the breadth of Olympic history, the show investigates the subplots of the games from the celebration of the competitors to the role of the spectators. A custom-built six-foot mini-diorama recreating one of the earliest Greek stadiums sports more than 1,200 miniature participants. Ancient Greek vases, historical and modern sports equipment and memorabilia, modern art, archival and contemporary videos, and interactive elements will convey the multiple threads that constitute the Olympic fabric.
