The New Center for Arts and Culture in partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Nextbook presents Jonathan Wilson, author of Marc Chagall, Fletcher Professor of Rhetoric and Debate at Tufts University and Robin Cembalest, Editor of ARTnews. Two conversations that remove Chagall from “Fiddler on the Roof” banality to restore his full complexity as man and artist. Chagall often drew inspiration from the Hebrew Bible but obsessively painted Christ on the Cross. His paintings are love poems, but his own love-life was both splendid and anguished. In his new biography, Jonathan Wilson explores an extraordinary life and career that stretched from World War I to the turbulent 1960’s and beyond, from Belarus to southern France. Book signing to follow.
