"The energetic explosion that is The Mooney Suzuki got their start in New York City at a weekly 60’s mod party titled TisWas. From there they spent 1998 taking their MC5 and The Kinks inspired rock-n-roll all over the east coast. The next year they were invited to play New York City’s famed garage rock festival Cavestomp! Their first record, released in 2000, made it to number twelve on the CMJ Top 200 and put them back on the road, including a brief tour with The Donnas. In 2001 they accepted an offer from Detroit’s Jim Diamond to record some new material in his Ghetto Recordings studio. The Mooney Suzuki then recorded their second release Electric Sweat here in Detroit and then signed on to Gammon Records in New York City. The band is set to release Alive & Amplified in August, they will return to Detroit a month earlier to give fans a preview of the new material.
