by Barrie Stavis.

Performances at Lafayette’s Harlequin Theater, 990 S. Public Road, Lafayette 80026

November 13, 14, 20 and 21

“The Man Who Never Died” is a locally relevant, deeply powerful courtroom drama about labor organizer, singer-songwriter Joe Hill, who was accused of murder in 1914. Was Joe Hill framed? Barry Stavis wrote the definitive, beautifully nuanced and richly peopled dramatic presentation of this great controversial trial. The trial was an international sensation… and remains a cautionary tale today.

“The Man Who Never Died” takes place in a period of extreme disparity between the wealthy few and the massive population of increasingly unemployed and homeless poor, many of whom were recent immigrants. It was a time, as Will Rogers said, when “Ten men in our country could buy the whole world and ten million couldn’t buy enough to eat.”

The play will be performed by an ensemble that includes some of the area’s finest and best-loved actors alongside rising local stars.

The plays of Barrie Stavis have been translated into 28 languages, are performed around the world, and have been televised by Hallmark Hall of Fame, on A&E, and broadcast on the BBC.

This presentation of "The Man Who Never Died" is produced by ARCH, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the showcasing of significant historical and cultural matter that is disappearing for many reasons. ARCH is the acronym for the Association for the Retention of Cultural Heritages. ARCH’s website is presently undergoing renovation and will be available again shortly.

Tickets are $10-15, and are available by phone: 1-888-512 -7469 or online at frontlinetickets.com. All performances are at the Harlequin Theater, 990 S. Public Road, Lafayette 80026.
