Spotlight Theatre offers another enjoyable evening of entertainment with "The Man Who Came to Dinner” opening November 17 and running through December 22. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays at 2:00 p.m. at The John Hand Theater, 7653 E. 1st Place, Denver. After slipping on an icy doorstep, radio personality Sheridan Whiteside is confined to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanely to recuperate. Initially the Stanleys are excited to have a celebrity in the house, but that feeling is quickly quashed when their house and their lives are taken over by the irascible invalid, his many guests, a penguin, and a mummy case! Sheridan’s secretary Maggie is the only one who can handle his petulant behavior, but when she falls in love with the local reporter, will Sheridan’s life be changed forever?

"The Man Who Came to Dinner” (1939) is a comedy in three acts and is one of four scripts co-written by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. It was adapted for film in 1942, featuring Bette Davis and Jimmy Durante. "The Man Who Came to Dinner” has also been adapted for radio and television, as well as serving as the basis for the 1967 musical Sherry!
