The Tasting that Changed the Wine World: The Judgment of Paris 30th Anniversary

In 1976, the wine world experienced a seismic shift. France lost its position as center of the wine universe when two California wines won a blind tasting in Paris. Join us for a special blind tasting as we sample the finest New and Old World wines to see who triumphs 30 years later.

You?ll taste California Chardonnays vs. French White Burgundies, and California Cabernet Sauvignons vs. French Red Bordeaux, including Chateau Latour, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Montelena, Chateau Mouton-Rothschild, Clos du Val, Joseph Phelps Insignia, Mount Eden Vineyards, Puligny Montrachet Pucelles Laflaive, Ramonet Batard Montrachet and Stag?s Leap Wine Cellars. These are exactly the same wines as those judged by a select group of world-renowned wine experts during a simultaneous global wine judging occurring May 24 at COPIA and Waddesdon Manor (historic home of the Rothschild family) in the U.K.

Also, meet author George Taber, who will sign copies of his classic account? The Judgment of Paris: California vs. France and the Historic 1976 Paris Tasting That Revolutionized Wine (Scribner).

CAPTION: George Taber (standing, far left) at the original Judgment of Paris.
