One Ring Zero
After Party featuring Barbes Records mates Chicha Libre

One Ring Zero’s critically acclaimed album As Smart As We Are features lyrics by such authors as Jonathan Lethem, Margaret Atwood, Paul Auster, Dave Eggers, and Denis Johnson. Using unusual instruments including claviola, theremin, toy piano, and glockenspiel, the band’s musical landscape is part cartoon, part klezmer, part lit-rock, and part circus. Don’t be surprised to see literary luminaries in the audience!

Chicha Libre plays a mixture of Latin rhythms, surf music and psychedelic pop inspired by Peruvian music from the Amazon. The Brooklyn-based band mixes covers of forgotten Chicha classics with French-tinged originals, re-interpretation of 70’s pop classics, and cumbia versions of pieces by Satie and Ravel.
